On a PS4 Pro, the game will run in “adaptive 4K resolution,” which basically means “up to 4K resolution” — the console dynamically scales the game’s resolution up and down depending on how busy things are, with an eye on maintaining frame rate. (Destiny 2 is locked at 30 fps on both consoles, even if you’re playing on the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.)
For comparison’s sake, the Windows PC version of Destiny 2, which launched in late October, already supports 4K and HDR. Until now, Bungie had only confirmed that it would add HDR to Destiny 2 on PS4; neither the studio nor publisher Activision had said anything about Xbox One support, perhaps because of the tight marketing contract that Activision maintains with Sony for exclusive content on PS4. If Bungie wasn’t ready to discuss details of Destiny 2’s PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhancements until yesterday, that’s fine, but if that wasn’t the case, then it was silly for the studio to act as if the Xbox One version doesn’t exist.
